Selling Alliance Membership?
I throw this into the melting pot on the basis that being prepared is better than being caught unawares. As we already have people selling GW gold on Ebay, we can assume that any loophole will be exploited rapidly by these farmers. So...
Assume that someone sets up a Guild of 'peoplebots' to do nothing but farm faction 24/7. I'm not sure how many of them would be required to more or less permanently control one of the major towns with an elite mission, as no-one knows exactly how this will work yet, but if its possible it will be done. Fill up the Guild by selling membership on Ebay. Continue filling up the Alliance by setting up and selling memberships of the other possible 9 Guilds on Ebay. So you would have maybe a max of around 950 memberships for sale, assuming 50 are farming. I wonder how much membership would cost...
There is a way around that for Anet - if selling Guild membership falls foul of the EULA agreement, the Alliance could simply be disbanded. It all depends on how sure you can be that ALL members bought their way into the Guild.
Or if a town can only be controlled by a combination of pvp faction AND pve faction. I cant see the farmers competing regularly in PvP matches.
I think Confucius foresaw Guild Wars when he said 'May you live in interesting times.'
